Oh friends it has been too long!!! I, Amy, have been quite a social Spinster these past few weeks but I had to take a minute to share with you a wonderful find that may possibly change your life (or at least your life as it relates to margarita consumption). I recently picked up a bottle of Margarita King (LCBO; $19.95; 750ml -not sure of availability or price outside of Ontarioland). As a general rule, I don't expect much from pre-made, mass produced alcoholic beverages, especially given The Spinsters' last experience with them, however, I am happy to report that this is an exception to the rule. I have inadvertently gotten sloshed twice on this stuff (both times while I was alone, in the middle of the afternoon, reading PerezHilton - judge me not lest ye be judged). Needless to say, I'm currently half way through my second bottle of "The King".
Now on to the review.....
Limeyness: One of the more limey margaritas I have had of late. It is making my lips pucker just thinking about it.
Saltiness: While I didn't add an additional salt, it had a perfect salty aftertaste. How do they do that????
Presentation: Other than drinking it out of one of my super cool glasses, I didn't put in the effort of making it look pretty and went straight for the goods. Trust me, this one doesn't need any foreplay.
Texture: While you can blend it with ice, I feel when at home that step is a pain in the ass and suggest serving it on the rocks.
Strength: This is a strong drink, not for the margarita novice or faint of heart. That being said it, is also very smooth and will easily seduce you into have two or three before you come to your senses and fully commit to finishing the whole bottle.
If this margarita were a movie about Zorro, swarthy hypermasculine horseman, who would play Zorro? I have to say, Viggo Mortensen, the epitome of swarthy, hypermasculine horseman, as he makes my lips pucker and could easily seduce me as often as he likes. I am just as surprised as you that I found him at the LCBO but I kinda always knew we'd meet when I least expected it.
Overall rating: Five out of five tequila worms

Before I go I have a Very Important Inebriated Spinster Announcement!!!!!
Next Saturday, the 26th I will be patronizing Ethel's Lounge. Ethel's is the holder of my margarita virginity. Now that I am a big ol'margarita slut, this will be a test to see if my first time really was as good as I thought it was when I didn't know any better. So stay tuned.
Until then remember: Sobriety, like normality, is highly overrated.
Yours,
Inebriated Spinster Amy

hehehe... I purchased Margarita King yesterday before reading this entry, because I was swayed by the proclamation that it is "the world's best margarita" on the bottle.
my reaction: "it was a bit strong."
Xandra's reaction: "it was a bit weak."
I look forward to the Ethel's review!!! Go home team!
